Although a significant amount of faith formation happens at home with our families, there is something equally special about gathering in community to share in spiritual practices. Although Jesus wasn’t thinking of worship or church as we know it today, he encouraged his followers to get together, to remember him and his teachings, and to offer encouragement to one another.
Communities of Faith
If you’re looking for an inclusive Christian community that reflects the same values as BibleWoolies, we recommend taking a look at a United Church near you. Many United Churches openly welcome and celebrate the 2SLGBTQ+ community, have made community commitments to reconciliation between Indigenous and settler peoples, and support justice initiatives around housing, migrant rights, and so much more.
Camps and Day Camps
There are also many affirming camping ministries across Canada that offer fantastic summer programs, from day camps to sleep away, that your kids will love. The friendships and memories created at camp are something adults often refer to as being hugely formative for them in their faith journey.
Worship Online
Another option for those who aren’t able to find a suitable community of faith nearby is to find one you can attend no matter where you are. There are even online communities that focus on specific topics, like Ukulele Church which invites you to play and sing along.
